Keynote Speaker 1: Dr Shelley Cobb, Associate Professor of Film, University of Southampton. Dr Cobb is the principal investigator of the AHRC project Calling the Shots: Women and Contemporary Film Culture in the UK, 2000-2015. Her essay ‘Women Directors and Lost Projects‘ explores the unmade films of contemporary women directors. Dr Cobb has also published extensively on the histories of women directors in film and television, including the book Adaptation, Authorship and Contemporary Women Filmmakers (2014, Palgrave Macmillan).

ynote Speaker 2: Professor Andrew Spicer, Professor of Cultural Production, UWE Bristol. Professor Spicer’s research investigates the cultural and creative industries in the UK, with a focus on media production cultures in film and television. He has written extensively on British producer Michael Klinger, with the Klinger archive based at UWE Bristol. Professor Spicer’s publications include The Man Who Got Carter: Michael Klinger, Independent Production and the British Film Industry, 1960-1980 (2013, I.B. Tauris) and the influential article on unmade cinema, ‘Creativity and Commerce: Michael Klinger and New Film History‘ (2010).
